  1. Does anybody remember Legend of the Dragoon? I recently picked it back up and couldn't help but think it has a place here. For those who don't know it. In this game there was a way to acquire the power of dragon in the form of armor complete with wings and abilities associated with that dragon. The way this was achieved was by slaying a dragon and in their final moments cutting out a piece of them (something in their eye) that their soul becomes sealed in and the dragon soul has to recognize you as worthy in order to utilize their power. The concept of harnessing the power of what you've vanquished sounds like something fit for Deadhaus and it doesn't have to be exclusives to dragons, although that is what I'm hoping for most.
  2. That Sounds AWESOME!! Edit: And perhaps there comes a point when these creations have to go back to where they came from, whether they want to or not.
  3. It really comes down to how its presented. A revenant waving their hands and chanting to conjure a hell hound into the realm of the living wouldn't look right; but a Revenant reaching back to grab what looks like nothing and dragging a hell hound forward by it's collar that appears out of nowhere would look pretty sweet. Definitely, each of the undead occupying the corners of the trinary should have some sort of buffing effect associated with their aligned realm. I like it. If it has to go to one of them I'd give it to the ghoul while the Revenant can carry the diseases and plagues on the things they are equiped with. The ghouls bodies seem to be forever in a state of change, taking on the features of what they eat into their own tissue as it breaks down and reforms to accommodate said features. It makes sense that when they eat something diseased that their body would also utilize components of the disease into that change.
  4. What about materialization, like a form of conjuration? They can will certain things and perhaps even beings into a physical existence. This could extended to players that have had their bodies destroyed in an ongoing battle, recreating those bodies so they can rejoin the fight.
  5. I'm actually liking the idea of them having telekinesis. Its usually associated with a powerful mind or, potentially, a strong physical brain. Perhaps it wouldn't be as precise in application as it would be through a liche but it feels right that Revenants (the embodiment of force and will) would become capable of extending that force beyond their body's reach to push, pull, or crush things as the enhancement of their bodies could also extend to their brains.
  6. I've been curious for a while about the Revenant's place on the trinary, being the strongest in the physical/material, and what that affords them. Yeah they are physically the strongest of the undead but what other perks does that come with? Can they control all forms of matter through touch, like reshaping the earth at their feet to cover them like an exoskeleton that makes them resemble a golem? If so, could that extend to flesh and their bodies behave like John Carpenter's The Thing? Does their dominance over the physical remove the limitations and laws associated with it, that they can lift heavy things with ease not just because they are that strong but also because things like weight from gravity holds little to no influence over what they are capable of?
  7. Full Disclosure: I haven't played the demo (watched it on youtube) but its not for lack of trying, maybe my hardware isn't enough (1050 ti) and I never even heard of github before this. That being said I'd like to throw in my two cents over having a targeting system or not, perhaps a middle ground. Allow us to lock onto a target if we want to and alter the attack based on whether we are locked onto said opponent or not. When you aren't locked on to anything your attacks are broad and easily capable of hitting more than one target if they are in the strike's path; but the potential damage is reduced or put on a bell curve (delivering the most damage in the center with a gradually decrease the further away the hit occurs from there). When you target someone the breadth of your attack is narrower and focused on them, maximizing the potential damage dealt in each strike but limiting that damage to mostly the one being targeted with the possibility of hitting others greatly reduced.
  8. When it comes to distinguishing magick from essence I've always thought of it like comparing electricity to gravity. Essence manifests around and within physical structures, holding the souls to their vessels like gravity holds us to the ground. The body is the physical element or presence in the realm of the living, the soul is the magick or energy that animates the body, and the essence is the gravitational field or force that holds it all together.
  9. Family First as they always say. Sure they might not have put any money down but if they took the time to join the forums or discord then they have given Deadhaus more than a passing glance.
  10. I've mentioned it in some of the fan-lit I've posted lately (lessons in necromancy, by thorn) but I am curious about what the hereafter in Deadhaus actually is. Its not like we can say its a mystery since some of the classes come back from death and one even originates from there. *So what is the afterlife in this game? *Is there more than one (Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, Valhalla, The Void)? -If so, what determines which one you end up in? *Are there plans to venture into these realms in the future? *Can we align ourselves or make pacts with these underworld, trading souls for power up or spells? *Can we bring things back with us from there into the realm of the living?
  11. "There are numerous realms that the dead call home and the creation of a phylactery will require a connection to one of them. As you advance you will have the opportunity to create more phylacteries and potentially align each of them to a different one. It should be a goal of all liches to achieve a phylactery in every one of these realms. With each new union comes a myriad of spells and possible applications for them, as well as a source of essence in times of scarcity; but beware, apprentice, that is necromancy that must only be used when necessary as it may have consequences beyond anything you or even I could possibly imagine. In these connections the phylactery functions as the bridge and the gate, the point of entry where you can choose to let the essence flow or not. In normal necromancy you use your magick to channel essence from either your current vessel or what surrounds you into various spells and rituals; but if this isn't enough for the task then there is the option of allowing the essence of your chosen underworld to flow into you." Thorn conjures a steadily burning ball of red flames that hovers in her open palm. "An unwatched flame grows until it consumes all physical matter that can fuel it before dieing." The fire turns a shade of green. "Add a bit of your essence and it will not only burn the flesh but also the soul. Fire fueled with essence from hell-" The green colors of the fire gives way to waves of blue and red that clash violently, now appearing unstable. "will engulf whatever it touches, continuing to burn long after it has incinerated all that is around it and not even an ocean's worth of water will kill it. This fire is now fueled by that realm and until the day comes that hell ceases to be this fire will burn unless you snuff it out by forcfully severing its connection to you." Screaming voices can soon be heard from the fire, begging and pleading for help with menacing laughter in the background. "This is another thing that you must be aware of when utilizing this necromancy. Just as before with linking yourself to more than you can control, connecting yourself to a realm is not one sided as the potential for it to influence your actions is always present. There are things from the other side that will try to cross over into this one through you and what you embue with the essence of it's realm. Keep in mind that every domain of the dead has its own ecosystem, complete with all manner of pests, predators, and plagues." The fire in her hand is quickly extinguished and the screaming ceases as silence fills the void it leaves behind.
  12. "The phylactery, the final steps in your ascension to lichdom and proof of your mastery over essence. As stated before, essence is the energy that binds our souls to the flesh. Without it the soul is no longer bound and, as a result, no longer secured to the physical world as it is quickly pulled by the ether into the hereafter. A phylactery serves as a secondary binding, containing one's essence and anchoring the soul to the physical realm after the body has failed. To make a phylactery there are three steps that must be taken. The first is to empty all of the essence in your body and channel it into an object of your choosing while enduring immense pain from every ounce of your living body reacting and doing all that it can to make you stop. When the transfer is complete the pain will cease and you'll find yourself in limbo with several gateways all around you, each of them leading to a different afterlife. Your second task is to venture into a realm and gather enough essence from there to invoke your phylactery, forging a connection between you and your phylactery with that realm so that you may transport your soul between it and this one. Choose wisely as each has its own adversities to face and once you choose there is no going back. Success will allow you to return here, outside of your corpse. The final task is creating a new binding with essence you will gather here and reassert control over your flesh. Failing to route your essence into the object will result in not being anchored in limbo and instead being taken to the realm of the afterlife that currently has the greatest alignment to your soul where you will remain forever. Fail to gather the essence of the realm you chose to enter and you won't be able to invoke your phylactery to bring you back, trapping you in that realm for all eternity. Fail in the binding and you will not be able to reenter the physical realm, cursed to permenantly wander limbo as a specter. Are you ready to begin?"
  13. "To learn necromancy you must first understand essence. What is essence? It is the energy of life itself, the power that binds the body and soul. If any thing of the living or undead was to lose all of its essence then that binding would dissolve, releasing the soul and killing the body. The art of necromancy at its most fundamental level is the manipulation of essence through magick, projecting the essence within yourself into whatever you desire from the inanimate to the organic and creating a bond that will allow you to control them so long as your will is stronger than theirs. Always remember that what you possess is still bound by their limitations, it alone does not allow a stone to move on its own or for a child to suddenly surpass the prowess of a man. Much of the living have a rather limited and finite supply of essence so a living necromancer must use their own sparingly but, just as you are able to project your essence into others, there are ways to take it from what is around you and make it your own. Be cautious in what or how much you choose to possess at one time as these bonds can be to your detriment if you lack the power to remain dominant and you will quickly find yourself being manipulated without even realizing it."

  15. I keep going back and forth. The 1st is a lot sleeker and feels like an apex predator while the 2nd is more intimidating and feels like a savage monster. You'd look cooler in the 1st form but I know I'd be more hesitant to go toe to toe against the 2nd. Screw it, in Deadhaus its better to be feared than admired.
